1.To serve as a forum for evaluating existing public policies concerning intellectual disability and technology.

2.To advocate for the adoption of public policies regarding technology research, development, and utilization which advance the independence and well being of person with intellectual disabilities.

3.To encourage technology and consumer product developers to implement principles of universal design so that products will be more accessible.

4.To promote the development of new technologies, specifically designed to meet the needs of people with intellectual disabilities.

5.To discover solutions to the barriers preventing effective use of technology by people with intellectual disabilities: Inadequate training, limited funding, incomplete assessment procedures, and ineffective repair/maintenance services.
6.To highlight new research findings on technology use and mental retardation.
